You don’t say one thing in one hundred interviews and invalidate it in one. -Bella

Masterlist of EL quotes about shipping Chair. If you know of any, send it in! For #savechuckandblair. THIS POST IS CONSTANTLY BEING UPDATED (not really for reblogging purposes :)

Entertainment Weekly J. Edgar Premiere 2011:

Something, anything about epic couple #Chair on #GG! We are dying w/o them onscreen! Please, tell me I still have hope. — @ladynetdoma
I would say there’s always hope, but Ed Westwick, who EW caught up with at the premiere of J. Edgar last night, might (shockingly) disagree. “I don’t even know what I hope for them personally,” he says. “So much change and drama has been thrown around these days. In some ways, they are perfect for each other and it seems like destiny. But in other ways, I don’t know if they can overcome all the terrible things they have done.” But don’t get too down. While he couldn’t tease much, he says, “These storylines are very much keeping me on my toes. It is so crazy. Things change every week … There is a lot of fun, fantastic stuff upcoming, I can say that.”

Just Jared Studio x Lacoste 2011:

Nate, Chuck, or Dan?

Leighton: Chuck.

Showbiz ITN 2009:

Blair or Serena?

Ed: Blair.

Manila Gets Chucked 2011:

If you had the power to dictate what would happen to Chuck and Blair, what would you do?

Ed: I think they belong together. I don’t know how we’re going to get them together but I think they’ve got to come together at some point and have little Chuck babies.

In bow ties.

Little Chuck babies in bow ties.

CNN Talk Asia 2011:

Interviewer: if it were up to you, how would you want it to end? the final episode.

Ed: oh wow. i don’t know… i survived being shot, i’ve done a bunch of stuff, i don’t - i don’t know. I think Chuck Bass should lose all his money, and there’s like this really interesting end to whether or not Blair and him can put a life together as normal people do, getting normal jobs.

MTV Hollywood Crush 2011:

“I like that friendship,” she said of Blair and Dan. “I can’t tell you [what’s going to happen]. I don’t know, I like working with Penn [Badgley], and so that’s been very fun,” she said. “And I think they’re good for each other in a lot of ways, in a way that Chuck and Blair aren’t.”

Before “Dair” fans get carried away with that little quote, Leighton went on to say that she still has hope for “Chair.”

“I like Chuck and Blair though,” she said. “I think they’re good together. And sexy.”

Digital Spy 2011:

“I think, stuff that’s happening right now, we’re dealing with the friendship and relationship of Dan and Blair and seeing where that goes,” she said. “Seeing what happens with Chuck and Blair.”

When asked what her ultimate storyline would be, Meester replied: “Probably that she ends up with Chuck. And that she discovers he’s a prince! That would be pretty cool.”

NY Post 2011:

PW: Now, I love them together, but don’t want them to be together in a romantic way. How do you feel about a possible romance there?

Leighton: I like Chuck and Blair [laughs].

PopSugar The Roommate Premiere 2011:

Leighton on Chuck & Blair: I think it’s on hold right now, but I like them together. They’re really cute together.

Allure January 2011:

The actress has similar affection for the TV couple dubbed “Chair” by hardcore fans.

“I love Chuck and Blair. I can really relate to it-not necessarily because it’s this dramatic, tumultuous relationship, but because the way they love each other is very real and not for the sake of being dramatic,” she explained. “It’s actual love. There’s nobody for each other but them.”

MTV Leighton Season 4 Interview:

“I am a fan, which sounds ridiculous, of Chuck and Blair,” Leighton told MTV News of the on-off couple she portrays with Westwick. “I love their relationship, and I really love working with Ed, which is what it probably boils down to. But yeah, I think maybe there needed to be some sort of break in their relationship and some sort of drama,” she continued. “Maybe it was going too well, and then there was the downward spiral with his uncle, which was fun to play out but I hate fighting.”

[…]

But what about Chuck and Blair? They can’t really be over, right?

“I think Blair has done some healing, but not entirely,” she teased. “She definitely she has a flame burning for Chuck. Who wouldn’t?”

PopSugar Fall TV 2010:

PS: Do you think it’s only a matter of time before Chuck and Blair get back together?

Ed: I don’t know. They’re two characters who seem like they’re cut from the same cloth. Maybe it’s inevitable. Star-crossed lovers.

Cuore Magazine 2010:

Leighton: Chuck and Blair will be happy together…some day

ITV Lorraine:

DB: It would be quite nice for people to see Chuck in love again! We like his softer side!

EW: I think everyone wants to see Chuck to get back with Blair – his true love. And whilst all this is going on Blair sees that this it all perhaps looking a little too serious and perhaps gets a little hurt.

Chuck Bass in Paris Season 4 Interview:

Ed: Chuck Bass and Blair, I think it’s inevitable that their paths would cross they are just two characters that seem to fit so well together you know? Whether they are at each other’s heads or in love.

Time Out New York:

Ed: Leighton [Meester] and I were talking on set the other day, wondering how our characters might get back together. Everyone expects them to, but in the fourth season’s story line they’re far from it.

Now Magazine UK 2010:

How do you feel about Chuck and Blair’s relationship?

– “I think they’re meant to be together; they’re just as bad as each other! It’s pretty self-destructive at times, but they thrive on it and whatever you have to do to get your kicks…At the end of the day it comes down to living on the edge or not living at all.”

Be Magazine 2010:

Playing the ‘villains’ it’s always funnier, more rewarding and paying toward the public, what do you think?
LM: Of course Blair is the bitch of the show, I can’t say the contrary! But she’s not diabolic, like evil incarnate. I defend her a lot because she reacts with the thing that happened to her: her mother is really hard on her, her father leave her
and never keep his promises, her best friend slept with her boyfriend. It’s a lot, isnt it? And she’s funny and very sensible. This spirit of permanent competition I think it’s touching. It’s proof of her lack of confidence in her.

EW: I agree. Chuck has also many layers. The most interesting for me was to explore it. Family level, he’s served: her mother is dead, his father is a monster! What people like is, of course, the shade and at the same time keeping the ‘too much’ line in the manipulation,
and is good to play and I hope people like to watch! And chuck has changed a lot because of his love for Blair.

LM: This couple always plays with fire. Only drama! It’s what I don’t like in real life but on tv is a different story, we do want to see people be happy non-stop They are adults in their relation for 17 years old teens. They accept themselves like who they are without conditions. They find each other but they don’t admit it. Plus, they have this sensual chemistry, which we play a lot with. Blair was the ‘good girl’ for a long time: virgin, polite, brilliant at school, faithful, etc. Her night with Chuck change everything and reveal her to herself.

French magazine 2010:

Would you like to sing in Gossip Girl?

Ed: I would like to see Chuck sing a song just for Blair. Something a la Frank Sintra, I think it would be quite fitting…

What is the first question people ask you?

Leighton: When Chuck & Blair are gonna be together again. The fans care about that a lot, and I’ve to say me too! I love their relationship and working with Ed is very thrilling. The scenes with him are usually my favorites because we have a great alchemy. Our harmony makes our relationship credible, we trust each other and aren’t afraid of going too far in the intimate scenes.

So Chuck & Blair are going to be a couple are not?

Leighton: Well the writers are giving us a hard time. In Paris, Blair discover that Chuck have a new girlfriend played by Clemence Poesy. Blair is definitely not ready to forgive him. So, when she comes back to N.Y, she wants to forget Chuck Bass. But lets hope that it’s not forever because these two are made for each other.

Exessif 2010:

Ed Westwick talked about the sad future of his character: “Chuck suffered a terrible choc. He has to start from zero, become another person, change… But we all know it’s impossible.” As to Leighton Meester, she confessed her desires regarding Blair Waldorf: “I’d like to see Blair following her dreams, go to College. If it was for me, she would be with Chuck. But I don’t know if it will happen.”

The actors of Gossip Girl have the same ideas regarding Chuck and Blair’s relationship. According the actor, “In real life, for such a tumultuous relationship, you have to say stop, put boundaries, realize it’s too much. But there’s something magnetic about Chuck and Blair, like they’re the fission of the same atom.” Leighton Meester returned on her idea of desire impossible to satisfy: “Chuck is that kind of bad boy, Blair the type of bad girl. They’re perfect for each other, and not for anyone else.”

Digital Spy Season 4 Ed Interview:

Chuck and Blair have become such a popular couple this season, they’re kind of the couple that everyone’s rooting for. Why do you think that is?

They’re both interesting individually. I mean, you put them together, they have one of those great partnerships, you know. A crime-fighting duo, or something like that. Like Bonnie and Clyde a little bit, maybe…I think Leighton and I have great chemistry on-screen, so you know, that helps…but, yeah, no, they’re just great individually and when put together, they’re even better.

Would Chuck ever get married?

Well I mean he was gonna propose at the end of the third season, that was his big step, but maybe it was a good thing because I mean maybe they were a little bit young to get married. But I wouldn’t put it past him you know, his heart was pretty much set on her, she did a lot for him, she became his emotional pillar.

Cleo Australia 2010:

Where would you like to see your character end up in ten years?

Leighton: We’ve come to a place in the show where she is discovering who she is and who she wants to be as a woman. Blair’s going to Columbia, a very prestigious Ivy League school, and theres a lot of pressure. I’d like to see her as a lawyer or political leader. That’d be really fun.

I’m also a huge fan of Chuck and Blair as a couple, and I’d really like to see them end up together. I want them to get married. Ed [Westwick] and I say it all the time!

Digital Spy 2009:

“I’m actually really rooting for them,” she said. “I think they’re a really interesting couple and they’re not typical at all. Everything they do is a little bit naughty!”

Discussing the future for Blair and Chuck, she added: “Right now, they do have a very special bond and it’s not normal by any means! It’s very comedic and kind of sexy. It’s very cool.”

Season 3 Interview:

In her chat with Leighton, Jessica asked about the dynamic of Blair and Chuck. “It’s gonna be pretty fun because we get to sort of see what a real-life relationship would be between Chuck and Blair. It’s not a normal and conventional relationship by any means but for right now, the fighting and the love-hate is gonna be over a little bit,” Leighton explained.

Ed sounded off similar comment about the complicated relationship between his character and Leighton’s, saying “During the summer break, Chuck and Blair have been running around having some fun. We’ve been enjoying our love and our relationship. It’s not kind of your average relationship. It’s with an edge, it’s with sort of spark. …It’s hot and it’s heavy.”

Leighton Cosmopolitan Magazine 2009:

Leighton fully understands why viewers have become fixated on the love affair between Blair and Chuck. “They’re so perfect because they get each other. Chuck knows about her deep, dark side, and he finds it hot,” she says, spearing a bite of creamy rigatoni and peas. “But the best part of their relationship is that it’s realistic. People don’t always date for a while and then slowly fall in love. They start by hooking up one night. It takes time to get to know someone, and then you realize that you’re in love later on.”

EW 15 Great Performances In 2008:

Who knew a non-romance between sworn non-daters would be the sexiest thing to nearly overheat our televisions this year? With their relentless flirty games, Gossip Girl’s Blair (Meester, 22) and Chuck (Westwick, 21) twisted their high school soap into a delectable hour of romantic torture. Indeed, who could blame Blair — after months of not quite admitting that the two were in love — for taking matters into, um, her own hands? ”You can’t put a finger on what makes two characters connect,” says Westwick. ”It’s just chemistry. We have it. We feel it.” We do too.

E! Online Season 2 Interview:

As for Queen B, don’t feel too sorry—she’ll have another boy to keep her occupied all season long. “You’re not blind. You can see there’s chemistry [between Blair and Chuck],” Leighton Meester [Blair] told me while shooting her upcoming guest spot on HBO’s Entourage. “It’s cute. But I think this time around it might be different because the first time it was just like this drunken, passionate thing, and it just went away, like, the very next day. I don’t think Blair really wanted it, but maybe this time she does. Maybe she needs him. Maybe he completes her.”

Gossip Girl’s Leighton Meester on Being Bad - IGN 2008:

I have this moment in the new season where we talk and it’s just two or three lines between us – I wasn’t expecting it but I just started crying. And it’s so weird, because it’s this “love that cannot be” and all this, but I think it’s just that Ed’s a really amazing actor and I was just very emotional in the scene because of him. I think that it’s just a sweet pairing.

Paley Fest 2008:

Interviewer: When you first read that Blair and Chuck were gonna get together, what was your inital reaction?

Leighton: Yesss… [laughs].

Ed: Thank god for that.

Leighton: That’s perfect, they’re perfect for each other. He understands her like nobody else does so…

Interviewer: There was no trepidation? You weren’t like ‘oh this is gonna be… the fans won’t like this’?

Leighton: Oh for the show yeah, but in real life… [laughs].

Interviewer: So Ed what did you think about that twist?

Ed: Two thumbs up [everyone laughs], i mean look at her… come on. Um, no i thought it was a, umm.. [everyone continues to laugh]. Come on, being serious here. Um, i thought it was very interesting. I think a lot of people wanted to see them together ‘cause their so much alike in certain ways, but i don’t know i just think, you know opposites attract and when two people that are the same, it could be… it’s like fire with fire you know, and that’s what kind of happened in the end. But never say never, who knows where it will go? Maybe it’ll come full circle again.
